Arlington Heights | Kids

We are passionate about shaping the lives of children as they grow and flourish in their understanding of who God is and what He’s doing in the world!

We have created a safe and caring environment. Every volunteer goes through a screening process and our secure children’s area is limited to children, their families and our volunteers. We also celebrate various milestones in a child’s life through child dedications, kindergarten Bible presentations and 5th grade graduation.

If you're joining us in person, stop by our Welcome Center. We’d love to meet you! Please introduce yourself to one of our staff so that we can answer any questions you might have about Orchard Kids.

When We Meet

Orchard Kids | Sundays, 9:30 & 11 a.m.

Awana | Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m.

Awana, our mid-week program, is a ministry committed to reaching boys and girls with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and training them to serve Him. Awana clubs are a place where children 3-years-old to 5th grade can play games, memorize Bible verses and learn Bible lessons. We meet during the school year, September to April.

Awana Registration for the 2022-23 school year is now open.

Child Dedication

Child Dedications will happen next on Sunday, October 16. Please complete a Child Dedication Request Form by October 7 if you would like your child to be dedicated on that date, and mark your calendars for a required class on October 9 after the 11 a.m. service (lunch will be provided).

(Child Dedication usually takes place twice a year. One of the child's parents must be a member in order for their child to be dedicated at The Orchard.)

Online Resources

We are using the Gospel Project's online curriculum to allow children to grow in their understanding of the Bible at home throughout the week. You can find those resources here (scroll to the bottom under Kids Resources).

Security

All Orchard Kids are required to check in at one of our kiosks to receive a child check-in nametag and a classroom ticket to give to their teacher. Parents will receive a text message with their child’s pick-up claim tag. The parent number used for check in is printed on your child’s name tag. In the event the teacher needs to reach you, they will text using that cell phone number. Visitors can go to the Orchard Kids Welcome Desk to check in and obtain a temporary name tag. Our volunteers are background checked, screened and trained.

Special Needs

If your child has special needs, contact Heather Safford, Director of Children’s Ministries, to discus your child’s needs. It is our desire for your child to acclimate well.

FAQs

We use the same system as the local public schools to determine which classroom is the most appropriate for your child—with a September 1 cut-off date.

If we need to get in touch with you during the service, we will send a text to the phone number you used for check-in, with your child’s room number.

If your child has a severe food allergy, please let us know when you sign in or on the registration card so we are aware of the specific allergy and its severity. Additionally, we try to stay away from common food allergies with our snacks, such as nuts.

Yes, we encourage families to worship together! It’s okay if your kids are a little squirmy.

Whether you are here for the first time or have attended for years, all parents are asked to show their child’s ticket when picking up children, infants to second grade.  Third through fifth grade are allowed to leave their classrooms upon dismissal, so please set up a family meeting spot.

Yes! Child dedication is an acknowledgment by parents that they have been entrusted with their child by God. It is also a commitment to teach, train and model godliness for your child—a pledge you are asked to take publicly, before God and our church family.

Please fill out a child dedication request form if you’re interested in dedicating your child and our staff will be in touch with you about the next dedication date and meeting.
