Special Needs Ministry (Birth – 8th grade)
Families of children with special needs often feel they have nowhere to turn for support. At The Orchard, we recognize the importance of:

Parents attending and worshipping together in the Sunday morning service and adult electives.

Children with special needs being taught basic Bible stories and truths at their cognitive level of development.

Each child receiving an individual “Action Plan” with specific goals formed to meet the spiritual development stage of your child.
The Programs
Friendships takes place during the 8:45 am service hour. This program is designed to offer children with Special Needs the opportunity for gross motor play, adapted hands-on activities, and theme-based Bible time in a self-contained classroom. The small group teaching is led by either a certified Special Education teacher or a facilitator who has experience/training in adaptive teaching techniques. Teacher aides will also be present to provide support to the classroom.
Christ’s Touch takes place during the 10:30 am Sunday school hour. This program is designed to integrate children with Special Needs into their age appropriate classrooms. Each child is paired with a one-to-one aide who can readily assist and facilitate your child’s learning/worship experience. An initial home visit, team meetings (2 times per year), training workshops, and supervision (by certified special educators) all help facilitate this process. This program allows your child a safe and effective learning experience while being integrated with children at their age level.

We believe that each child is a unique and special blessing from the Lord. Our goal is to develop a strong rapport with your child while effectively teaching them the basic truths of God’s Word.
