Wednesday Evenings
Herd is the Wednesday evening gathering at The Orchard from 7-9 pm. Herd is a relational time where students can reconnect with peers outside of the school setting and the Sunday morning church environment. Each week, a message from the Bible is shared in a large group setting. The great benefit of Herd is the commitment of our adult leadership team who are essential components of the ministry. Your student’s experience will be dramatically enhanced by a consistent commitment to Wednesday evenings.
Herd “For the Ride Home” are Wednesday evenings where parents are invited to attend Herd along with their student. The evening is conducted in a normal manner, so that the parent gets to experience what the students participate in each Wednesday night. The purpose of the evening culminates on the car ride home. On each of these evenings, parents are given a set of questions and thoughts to use “for the ride home,” to stimulate spiritual discussion with their student. Since both have experienced the whole night and listened to the same message, we’re hoping that it gives parents a chance to follow-up with their middle schooler to reinforce concepts and application.
The two “for the ride home” dates that are set in the upcoming months are February 17 and April 28. We hope that you’ll be able to join us!
During the 2009-2010 school year, Pastor Bing will teach from 1 and 2 Samuel and 1 Kings, using the life of David to guide students through the challenges of life in middle school.
Herd does not meet on Powerhouse Nights (first Wednesday of every month). The final Herd of the year will be May 19. We will meet during Spring Break.
